Live Tired

Last week when we were on vacation, my husband managed to get sick ... always happens. Then I have to feel bad for him and worry about him even though he refuses to slow down or rest or do what he needs to do to get better. I'm used to it. I've gotten over nagging him about taking it easy. He always says, "I'll rest when I'm dead". On the way to work this week I saw a car with a window sticker that said "LiveTired". I couldn't stop thinking about how this applies to my husband. I need to find this window sticker and put it on his car. It's how he lives his life. Fully. Sometimes, I wish he'd do more fun than work, but I can also understand how working hard also is living full. After all, we know I want to die working.

Over the last 5 years I have worked from home. I could not wait until Saturday to get out and run errands and do chores. I could never be motivated to to things after work on weekdays. Now, I work out of the home and leave every M-F. I'm finding it harder and harder to leave my house on weekends. I just have no motivation to do anything but lie around and be lazy. I'll go shopping after work tomorrow.

Disney has changed their requirements to be a cast-member. The new requirements are just too much for me. I have to find a few things out to make sure the new requirements make it impossible for me to keep my status as a cast-member. I should look into things instead of speculating, but I'm just not motivated enough to look it up yet. Heck, I still haven't even sent my ring pictures to the insurance company. Talk about procrastination!! Does anyone have any tips to stop procrastinating? I'm such a lazy ass. I'm not living tired, that's for sure!

Here's a too much information story... I suffer from PMS. Severely. I know I'm due when I flip out for some irrational reason. No need for a calendar ... I have mood swings. The reason I mention this on my blog is that I'm so FREAKING happy that this month, my mood stayed even. I didn't lose it. I didn't get the blahs. I didn't feel depressed. I didn't feel annoyed. OMG Happy is me! I hope next month isn't twice as bad :(

A hurricane is coming, allegedly. It looks a little scary right now - may hit on Friday. I will have to keep close look at this. I'll believe it when I see the report of Tuesday. Right now I think it's too far away to be sure. Think I'm crazy?

I'm caught up on my feeds. I mean ... like ... completely caught up. It's a really cool feeling. I sooooooo love not having thousands of feeds to read. I have to figure out how to maintain this status. I may (and I stress may) find other things to do with my time now that I'm caught up. Of course, knowing me, that's just a pipe dream. I will probably just sleep more :P

This Week with Christiane Amanpour marks the passings of survivor of Bataan Death March Albert Brown, inventor George C Devol, former CBS executiveLane Venardos. In addition, the Pentagon released the names of fourteen service members killed in Afghanistan.

On a happier note, I found this webpage which is really heartwarming. It's called Welcome Home Blog and many videos are posted concerning troops coming home and surprising their family members. It's a treat ... take a peak: http://welcomehomeblog.com/

I said I wanted to blog more and I think I've been doing an ok job. I'm not sure if 4 blogs a month is as good as I'd like, but I am happy that when I do blog, I have a lot to share.

Chivalry is not dead

I think I work in the most chivalrous building. I've thought this for awhile but finally decided to share. Maybe I have been oblivious in the past. Have the men always stepped aside to let a woman on the elevator first? I don't think that they have in my prior travels. My perspective is that in the past it's always just been the person in the most advantageous spot gets on the elevator first, regardless of sex. Now I'm working in this building where the men always step aside awaiting for the women to get on the elevator first. Just this morning I was several steps from the elevator and the man standing right next to the door took a step back, making it very clear that I was to get on first. Wow. Obviously, this stuck in my mind. Recently, I was watching an episode of Oprah's Behind the Scenes show, and she and one of her male employees were getting on the elevator together. He got on first! I thought ... wow, I can't believe he didn't let Oprah get on the elevator first! First, it's Oprah, and second, she's a gurl! Before I worked in this building, I wouldn't have given that Oprah scene a second thought. The problem is, I've now come to expect it, and although this morning I would have completely understood if the guy closest got on the elevator first, it really stands out in my mind and reminds me that chivalry is not dead!

I had to locate a photo of my wedding ring for the insurance company. The stone fell out of the setting. In the process of locating this picture that I knew I had, I ended up locating a bunch of other old pictures that I had forgotten about. I had to set up a computer I haven't used in years. It was soooooo slow I was reminded why I ended up getting a new one. The old one is just unmanageable. But, the good news is that now I have a bunch of pictures from when our nieces and nephews were young. Just precious memories.

We were on vacation last week. Well, not the whole week. I took 3 days off. It's a bit annoying to me that I can't take time off from work without worrying about what may be happening and knowing that there is no one to cover forme or do things that only I know how to do. I'm still busy trying to get caught up. It really stinks that I don't have a helper to get things done when I'm on vacation. I want a job where I can go on vacation and when I come back not have to worry about playing catch up. Don't they have jobs where other people do your work while you are gone so that when you come back you can just start fresh? Don't worry though, I'm not going to complain a whole lot about it, because I've at least been given the time and space to get caught up at my own pace. Thank goodness my boss has been out so much! :)

From This Week with Christiane Amanpour we remember those we lost fighting for .... um ... well, we remember our heros:

This Week with Christiane Amanpour notes the passings of football Hall of Famer and actor Bubba Smith and actress Annette Cardona. Politics at its ... ?best?

I'm writing this blog because my internet friend David (I've never met him, but I still call him my friend) wrote a really great blog about the debt ceiling debate. While I've been following the debt ceiling frustrations, I don't think I'd have been as eloquent, or studied as David was in his blog post:

Why I disagree with Republicans on the debt ceiling issue

Then today as I was reading my feeds I came across this gem from Crooks and Liars:

25 Things We Learned During the Debt Crisis

I can't keep following politics. It's entirely too depressing about where our country is heading. And thanks to this Crooks and Liars article, I've had the epiphany that maybe it isn't so much that Republicans want to destroy the country, they just want to destroy Obama. I can't believe I forgot the political agenda of the republicans. Maybe because I just never believed people could be so evil that they would think the destruction of the Country was acceptable if it means bringing down the President, which is clearly the ultimate goal. I should be scared about the future, but I'm not. I'm still hopeful that some how, some way, this will all turn out okay. People are resilient. We will figure it out and adapt somehow, won't we?

Little bit of Nothing

I want to blog more often. I wish I had interesting things to say. I'd mention how my girlfriend/co-worker is mad at me and didn't have lunch with me today, but the details are just too specific for this blog that is so very general.

I've managed to change my eating habits but I need to do a better job of sticking with it. I keep having excuses to jump off the wagon and this just doesn't work well for someone who really wants to lose weight.

I went shopping yesterday after work, only to realize I forgot my wallet in my desk at the office. So, I couldn't buy anything. I think that was actually pretty good because it prevented me from impulse purchases. That's the good news. The bad news is, I still wanted them pretty bad today so I went back to the stores and bought them. If I had my wallet to make the impulse purchases I could have saved gas :P

They passed the debt ceiling thingy. Stocks dropped it like it was hot. I don't get it. I thought the purpose of life is to help your fellow man. Who are these tea partyers that think it's all for one?

I used to be on the radio. Yeah, a little trivia about me. Anyway, I was driving down the road on Friday listening to the radio when one of my old friends came on doing a traffic report. Who woulda thunk it! I guess I wasn't the only one to move here. LOL

A hurricane may or may not hit Florida this weekend. Hurricane season is here. August 25th is just around the corner. I wonder where the hurricane will be ....

Sorry for the boring blog. I'm pretty happy. My boss has been gone for the last week and won't be back til next week. I love the way I've been feeling. I think it's called ... normal :P
